Managing and securing devices across an organization is essential in a world where remote work and mobile access are becoming the norm.  On September 19th, 2024, Multithread ICT Solutions hosted an insightful masterclass titled "Drive Business Success with Comprehensive Device Management Solutions – Microsoft Intune." The session delved into the robust features of Microsoft Intune, showcasing how organizations can leverage its capabilities to secure devices, manage applications, and streamline device management across personal and corporate devices.

Edmund Kojo Tetteh welcomed attendees and set the stage for an engaging discussion on modern device management. The introduction set the tone for an interactive and informative session.

The facilitator for the day, Kwaku Odei Asare, wasted no time in diving deep into the heart of Microsoft Intune. He explained Microsoft Intune as a cloud-based solution designed to simplify the management of devices and applications. He stated that leveraging Intune, organizations can enforce security policies, ensure device compliance, and manage applications seamlessly.

He emphasized how Intune, as a cloud-based endpoint management solution, addresses the growing need for organizations to secure their diverse range of devices—from mobile phones to desktops and virtual endpoints. One of the key takeaways was how Intune allows for both Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM), ensuring that IT admins can manage and secure both devices and applications without compromising the user experience.

On that he also highlighted the importance of having comprehensive control over both corporate and personal devices. He explained that Intune allows IT admins to enforce device policies that ensure corporate data remains protected, while still allowing users the flexibility to use their personal devices for work.

The highlight of the session was a live demonstration, where Kwaku showcased how to:

1. Setup device management policies.

2. Deploy applications remotely.

3. Monitor and enforce compliance policies.

4. Implement device encryption, remote wipe, and device restrictions to protect corporate data.

During the session, he also explored how configuration policies set rules for devices, such as enforcing encryption or restricting certain features, and how compliance policies ensure devices meet security requirements before accessing corporate resources.

On the issue of Windows & Updates and Application Deployment: Kwaku walked the audience through how to automate Windows and driver updates and deploy applications securely using Intune’s platform.

Finally on Advanced Features, he touched on some points

· Autopilot: A feature that allows for zero-touch deployment, making it easier for IT teams to provision new devices.

· Remote Wipe & Lock: Ensuring that lost or stolen devices are remotely wiped clean of any corporate data.

· Device Health Attestation: Verifying the security state of devices before granting access to sensitive data.
