Streamline Business Workflows with Microsoft Teams 2: Advanced Meetings and App Integrations

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, we hosted yet another exhilarating master class that left participants buzzing with new knowledge and skills. The online session, titled "Streamline Business Workflows with Microsoft Teams 2: Advanced Meetings and App Integrations," a continuation from the first one in March ran from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM UTC and was packed with actionable insights and hands-on demonstrations.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Edmund Kojo Tetteh (Director, Business & Innovation), who set the tone for the day. Enthused, reflecting the anticipation that was palpable among the attendees.

Nora Saamaa Adu-Gyempeh welcomed everyone back after our break and shared what participants should expect from the session, basically covering all the new features we couldn’t finish in the previous one.

Teams: Your Work Command Center

The master class emphasized the power of Microsoft Teams as the ultimate "work command center."  Focusing on why Microsoft Teams is designed to be your one-stop shop for all work-related apps, ensuring fluidity in your work and serving as the central arena for all your tasks and information.

The first segment delved into mastering meetings within Microsoft Teams. Participants learned how to start instant meetings for quick, ad-hoc collaborations, schedule meetings efficiently, and manage their Teams Calendar. The session also covered various methods of joining meetings from multiple devices, a skill crucial for maintaining connectivity and productivity on the go.

One of the highlights was the demonstration of using breakout rooms. A feature that allows teams to split into smaller groups for focused discussions during larger meetings, enhancing collaborative efforts. Additionally, attendees were shown how to customize their meeting views for better visual experiences, share content seamlessly, and record meetings for future reference.

A Humorous Highlight

The humor of the technical training was when the facilitator (Obed Ayettey) brought in a light-hearted moment that became the highlight of the day. He created a scenario on "How to schedule your lunch for tomorrow when you'll not be around." This humorous example not only entertained the attendees but also effectively illustrated the scheduling tools within Teams. It was a perfect blend of humor and learning, showcasing how versatile and user-friendly Teams can be.

Live Events and Webinars

Next, the focus shifted to hosting and managing live events and webinars. This segment empowered participants to organize large-scale live events and webinars, broadening their audience engagement capabilities. The trainer illustrated the step-by-step process of setting up these events, ensuring that even those new to the feature could follow along.

Integrating Apps and Services

The final segment explored integrating various apps and services within Microsoft Teams. Where participants discovered how to navigate and access apps that enhance functionality and streamline workflows. This segment was particularly engaging, as it showcased how integrated apps could significantly boost productivity.

Throughout the session, the trainer maintained a lively and interactive atmosphere. That clarified doubts in real time. He then demonstrated how to create a group chat from an existing one-on-one chat, adding a practical touch to the theoretical knowledge shared.

As the session ended, Edmund Kojo Tetteh offered a glimpse into future opportunities.
